Five reasons to choose Aspen Log Homes.
Over the last 25 years we have had the opportunity to build homes for Ambassadors, captains of industry and many, many log home lovers. We stayed in business when others failed. Because of our ability to wear many hats — we did remodels, maintenance work, and even contracted work for U haul. They loved our work so much they asked us to do other work for them which we did for about a year.
- Quality – Just spend a little time on our gallery pages and it is easy to see the difference.
- Experience – 25 years in this business does separate us from the rest.
- Resources – It has taken years to develop the resources that we have, By building across the United States we have accumulated resources that other builders wish they had.
- One Stop Shop – With Aspen log homes, you only have to make one call, we will do the rest.

1990 to 2000
Aspen Log Homes was founded in 1990 by Wayne Nelson who was at the time stock broker for E F Hutton. Wayne had hired a company to build him and his wife a log home. The company Wayne had hired took out bankruptcy before completing the home leaving us with some heavy losses. Being in the investment business Wayne had built spec homes and was advised by his son Scott to go and finish the home himself. While finishing the home Wayne was asked by others to build them a log home, and Aspen Log Homes was born. Because of what happened to Wayne, he made a decision to never touch the customers money. All construction draws are paid by the lending company, never from an Aspen Log Home account. All sub-contractors are paid by the lending company, so you will never get a lien from a sub for non-payment. Aspen only draws on completed work either inspected by the lender or the owner.
2000 to 2005
In the year 2000 we moved into a 1600 Sq Ft facilty in Eden, Utah. The company signed a contract with Viking Appliances , Wolf and Sub-zero, set up a sales force for high end kitchens, doors, cabinets, and finished our first DVD. In 2003 we had grown to a point of having simultaneous builds in Taos, New Mexico — Jackson, Wy — Evanston, Wy — Mountain Valley, Ca. and Lake Winnipesaukee, New Hampshire.
2005 to 2010
In 2007 the bottom dropped out of the construction industry, and log homes fared no better. We quickly down sized cut our losses and started doing all construction jobs that were available, as well as building log homes. Aspen was able to stay in business while most log home companies were going broke. Our diversity became our strength.
2010 to present
Scott Heiner took over the business and he moved the company to Park City which was a good move. Scott has been involved with Aspen Log Homes since the beginning, as well as owning his own construction companies, and when Wayne wanted to slow down Scott was the natural option to take over the reins of the company. Wayne still handles the log packages side, while Scott runs all of the construction as well as running a construction management part of the new company
