Log Wall Calculations
HOW TO USE THIS CALCULATOR:
1. Determine the outside length and width of your building.
Select the closest values.
2. Select the log type and size.
3. If you have log gables, select the appropriate gable width and pitch.
4. Push the Show Estimate button and write down your costs.
5. Review the wall log assumptions text below the calculator.
Note: If you have an irregularly shaped house, repeat the calculations
for each rectangular area.
Costs generated by this log wall estimator are not entirely accurate. We have not changed the pricing in the last year and prices are escalating rapidly, please add 20% to get a more accurate estimate. These values are adequate for creating budgets and costs for our preliminary contracts. The only way to create truly accurate estimates are by having a set of plans and costing each item.
GABLES WITH OPENINGS
Note: The calculated price above assumes no window or door openings. To adjust your gable cost for window or door openings, multiply the sq. ft. area of the window openings by your log gable cost per sq. ft.
For example: 2 each of 5'x4' windows =20 sq. ft. x 2= 40 sq. ft. x $13.58= $543.20. You then subtract $543.20 from the gable price you are viewing. (This example assumes the gable cost per sq.ft. is $13.58. You should use the cost per square ft. of the log type you are choosing.)

ADDITIONAL ASSUMPTIONS:
- Swedish Cope Logs are supplied with hand-peeled surface as standard
- 6x8, 8x8 and 6x12 Logs are supplied with smooth surface as standard
- Costs above assume 15% opening area for windows and doors.
- Log package includes lags at 30" on center spacing
- Log package includes impregnated gasket as required
- Swedish Cope logs have pre-cut saddle notch corners supplied
- 6x12 Logs have pre-cut dovetail corners supplied
- 6x8 and 8x8 Logs not supplied with pre-cut corners (for butt & pass const.)
Prices may change at any time but are generally valid through 3 months from the effective date. Volume discounts and log specials might apply to your job. Always call for exact pricing.
These costs and prices are not quotes. They are simply cost benchmarks developed over time through experience and the use of national averages. These values are adequate for determining initial budgets and project feasibility. All prices must ultimately be validated using final plans by your realtor, suppliers, builder and contractor(s).
